Every Loot account requires a verified university or college email. We send a verification link before you can post or message anyone. Accounts re-verify annually, so when someone graduates or leaves, their access doesn't carry over. In certain cases, such as disputes, flagged accounts, or high-value transactions, we may request additional government or student ID verification. No workarounds.
Both parties rate each other after a transaction. Ratings are public on your profile. Patterns of bad behaviour get accounts reviewed and flagged.
Every listing and profile has a report button. Reports go to our team. We review within 24 hours and take action, from warning to permanent ban.
All communication stays inside the Loot app. You never have to share your phone number or personal email to arrange a transaction.
The library, the student centre, a campus coffee shop, these are all great spots. Avoid private residences for first-time exchanges with someone you don't know.
Physically inspect items before handing over payment. If a textbook has extra highlighting or a calculator doesn't turn on, that's your moment to renegotiate or walk away.
Agree on condition, price, and meetup spot in the Loot chat before you meet. That log is available if a dispute ever comes up.
Ratings only work if they're accurate. A quick, honest rating after every transaction keeps the community healthy for everyone.
